Google is currently testing a new visual ad format that adds an extra layer of interactivity – the Double Expand Swipe Carousel.
This format allows users to not only swipe through images in the standard carousel view but also tap on any image to open a larger, expanded carousel view. This creates a more immersive experience, especially on mobile devices, where every inch of screen space matters.
Two Levels of Interaction in One Ad
Here’s how it works:
- When the ad appears, users can swipe through the images as they normally would in a typical carousel format.
- If they tap on any single image, it opens into a larger carousel where they can continue swiping left or right – but now in a bigger, more prominent layout.
