Google has announced an important change regarding the display of ads on parked domains within its Search Partner Network. Starting June 9, 2025, all Google Ads accounts will automatically be opted out of serving ads on parked domains unless the advertiser manually opts back in.
What Are Parked Domains?
Parked domains are web addresses that don’t currently host any active content but may still display ads through Google’s search partner network. Domain owners often use them to earn passive income while the website is inactive or under construction.
Why Does This Matter?
Ads on parked domains often have low relevance and poor performance because visitors to these domains are usually not actively searching for products or services. Google likely recognized that this type of traffic frequently leads to a low return on investment (ROI), and is therefore moving to improve overall traffic quality by disabling this option by default.
What Should You Do?
If you want your ads to continue appearing on parked domains, you need to manually opt in:
- Log in to your Google Ads account.
- Navigate to your Campaign Settings.
- Find the Content suitability section.
- Locate the option related to parked domains and enable it.
If you take no action, your ads will no longer appear on parked domains after June 9, 2025.
Is This a Good Change?
For most advertisers – yes. Excluding parked domains can help improve traffic quality and campaign performance. However, if you have a specific strategy where traffic from parked domains delivers results, you’ll need to manually ensure the setting remains enabled.
